EFCC arrests staff for leaking information to bloggers

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested some of its members of staff, including a director and some senior operatives for leaking vital information which could dent the image of the commission to bloggers and the media.

The Acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, reportedly ordered the arrest of the operatives over the leaked information, which had the capacity to taint the image of the agency.

Also arrested was a former senior operative of the EFCC, who was sacked from the agency, over his involvement in cultism and for being corrupt. The report quotes a source as saying:

“There seems to be a purge here at the commission. Some of our operatives leaking information to bloggers are in custody already.
“Those arrested are a director, some senior and lower cadre officers, including a former senior operative who was dismissed for corruption and involvement in cult activities.”
